5 Distinct Differences Between IOS and Android Devices

The debate about the best brand between iOS and Android still rages in different tech websites. On Collected.Reviews, opinions are also divided on the best phone brand. Although the popularity of the two products is distinct, both operating systems keep releasing stellar features to better previous updates.

There are many gadget stores online that offer different reviews about phones before you purchase them. Considering the apps these products have, there are distinct features that make them different. These differences don’t beat down the prices. They are just the features that make a device unique from the other device. Some of the distinct features are:

1.          The Development Language:

Android apps use Java to build and design apps. For iOS devices, the use of Swift is exploited. However, Java apps require more time to build and code when in comparison to the time Swift programmers spend on building and writing code for the app. Yet, the java language is easy to read and it’s intuitive. The same cannot be said of Swift. Nonetheless, this difference is celebrated in many tech websites.

2.          The Design Philosophy of the Two Brands:

The screen resolution and sizes of the two products are different. iOS devices have two basic screen sizes which are the iPad and the iPhone. the iPhone often uses 4 resolutions and fewer is used for the iPad. For Android devices, there is a wide range of screen sizes and resolutions. This makes the brand more flexible, perhaps, versatile than iOS products. In the same vein, the navigation bar of Android phones is on the left while iOS navigation is on the top. The menu of iOS is in its bar. For Android, there are drawer menus that have tap-and-pull gestures. There are also distinct alert popup features in both devices. Also, while an Android device has an actual “back” button, an iOS device doesn’t.

3.          Demographics:

There are different audiences for the two brands. This is another distinct difference between the two product categories. iOS users are mostly female with an average annual income of over $200,000. According to data, Android users are mostly male aged 18-34 years old. They are said to work in utilities, energy, even IT, with an average annual income of $100,000.

4.          The Complexity of the Development:

iOS and Android products have distinct coding languages. The iOS language is complex while Android has been said to be more easy and simple. This hasn’t ruined the efficiency of the products from the two brands.

5.          Development Speed:

It has been said that creating an Android program takes time. The process has also been identified as slow. For iOS products, it is relatively less. Although the Java and Kotlin languages aren’t complex, the speed of development is slow compared to the speed used in developing iOS Swift-powered apps.

There is also the cost of development, deployment speed, the market share, and the different gears used in developing the two products. In all, these devices are distinct although there are few similarities. Aside from the similarities that require profound inspection, the two brands produce great smartphones for a variety of activities.
